Spotlight

11 May 2022

Our latest Manufacturer Spotlight newsletter focuses on C-Probe Systems and the launch of their latest product, the LoCem® Modular Anode Unit.

C-Probe Systems provide smart, low carbon corrosion management systems for the built environment. The combination of protection and monitoring of corrosion and use of low carbon materials helps to retain infrastructure’s embodied carbon, as well as comply to ESG and contribute to NetZero.

Their anode mortar, LoCem®, has recently been developed to the LoCem® Modular Anode Unit (MAU), which is used for the corrosion protection of newly built infrastructure, which ranges from concrete and masonry buildings, bridges, marine ports and parking structures.

Corrosion naturally occurs over time to steel framed infrastructure and is currently responsible for 70% of damage. The LoCem® Modular Anode Unit offers a route to prevent this from the earliest design and construction stages, as it uses cathodic protection to protect the internal steel.

The MAU is an impressed current cathodic protection (ICCP) moulded component that can be attached in an array directly to steel reinforcement in-situ, or in the precast factory prior to pouring the concrete. It is installed as a “plug-and-play” system with tailored current densities providing long-term sustainable, structural resilience and control over structural corrosion.

• Low carbon and low-cost protection strategy
• Service life of new structures significantly extended
• Tonnes of embodied carbon retained through preventing corrosion
• Successfully protect value of new assets
• Remote, online control via AiMS

C-Probe also works within the restoration sector and has a comprehensive portfolio of products which are used for the preservation of existing infrastructure and protection against corrosion.

Their LoCem +point® is a repointing anode mortar used for heritage, where the electrical current can pass through the mortar and protect the internal steel using cathodic protection. Discover more about their low carbon, sustainable technology in their Heritage Building Capability Statement, which also breaks down previous projects.
